Living Like A Local In Antibes

June 19, 2018

When visiting a town for the first time, there is no better way to have an authentic experience than through a local's perspective.

Antibes, a charming, cobbled-street village located between Nice and Cannes, is unique for one reason: it has managed to retain the charm of a quaint Provençale village through its development into a beautiful, modern city.

It is home to the world's largest superyachts and the Picasso Museum. Breathtaking views along the Cap d'Antibes have also attracted many celebrities and billionaires to elect residence in this incredibly exclusive part of the world.

So, to help you truly 'taste' and feel Antibes for what it really is, let me share with you my top 10 bonnes adresses:

No day should ever start without a café and croissant at Café Clémenceau in the Vielle Ville. It's just down the way from the Crew Grapevine, an upscale hostel in the heart of the city.

After breakfast, leisurely stroll to the covered market to pick up some fresh fruit, vegetables and artisanal french cheeses from Jacques, the local fromager.

Of course, no self-respecting Frenchwoman would dare eat Camembert without a freshly baked baguette from Aux Délices Antibois, still warm and crusty from the oven!

For the vegans and health buffs among you, Graze is the address you won't want to miss for a tasty home-made vegan lunch with a freshly pressed juice.

If Italian is your pêché mignon, Pizza and Co. will make sure you never see a pizza slice the same way again. Grab a square of Roman-style caprese to go or sit and enjoy on their cozy, old-school terrace.

And for amazing pasta, Mamalu is your friend! An authentic taste of Italy in the heart of the French Riviera.

Fancy a drink for apéro? The Hop Store, the town's largest British pub, is the best place to grab a pint with friends on their large terrasse across from Port Vauban. There's live music on weekends or grab a tasty burger for lunch or dinner.

And don't leave Antibes without making sure to visit the Absinthe Bar. This unique underground cave offers absinth fountains in a cosy, convivial atmosphere, where customers can choose from a selection of various hats to borrow for the evening. Step out of the world for a while... and on Friday nights, enjoy merry tunes when the pianoman Nico comes to play!

And what better way to detox the next day than to take a yoga class at Azure or Samasthiti with Caroline? For a tougher workout, try Crew Pilates with Bianca.

Antibes is full of possibilities to have a fabulous, luxurious experience during a few days' holiday, or for longer!

Ivy's most recent adventure was cheffing on private yachts, where she had the pleasure of sourcing magnificent local produce and products from small port towns in the Mediterranean.
