Motivation Tips for Fitness & Health On the Go

December 9, 2019

When the winter months come blowing in, forcing us indoors, it's really easy to become unmotivated to work out. Cozying up on the couch with a hot cup of cocoa,

a plate of sugar cookies and watching Home Alone Christmas movies sounds so much more appealing than sweating it on a treadmill doesn't it?

And what about when you're traveling? Working long hours, shuffling in and out of airports with the holiday crowds, and dealing with the occasional restless nights of sleep after a busy day. Who has time to think about physically running when your clock is running out of time to do anything it seems?

Yes it's hard finding the motivation in either situation whether you're on the go working or not wanting to work out regardless, but sometimes we make up excuses for why we can't do something when we know we should.

That's where our tips come in to help keep your motivated and shed the excuses along with those sugar cookies .......

-Plan ahead: pack healthy snacks and meals.

If you don't have time to meal prep or don't have any healthy snacks with you, plan to pick healthier options on the go and make healthy choices throughout the day.

-Set Your Alarm a little Earlier: make the time to fit in your workout by getting up earlier. The best part about this is if you workout first thing in the morning, you wont have to do it later! You'll almost forget that you already worked out that day! Even if it's only 15-20 mins of yoga or stretching when you roll out of bed, the benefits of this are you'll feel more energized and ready to take on the day!

-Pack you fitness gear: always pack a pair of tennis shoes, a workout outfit with you or even a resistance band/jump rope. You can use a resistance band or jump rope pretty much anywhere! Also, lay your clothes out on top of your suit case, so it's the first thing you see when you open it up as a reminder to get moving!

-Have a good playlist: listening to music with a good beat can make you feel energetic and uplift you to give you that extra boost to go get your sweat on! We have a playlist of upbeat, fun and motivating songs on Spotify called Fit for Flight!

-Take a class: research a class in a diff city. A lot of studios offer the first class for free or at a discounted price. Switch up classes to keep things fun and interesting!

-Explore the city: walking 10,000 steps is a workout in itself. When you're traveling you'll be amazed at how many miles you walk when you get out and explore a new city! Something we like to do is get out and find healthy places to grab a bite to eat or drink! And of course we like to indulge from time to time and find a doughnut shop!

-Listen to your body: if you physically feel tired or exhausted don't force yourself to workout and end up injuring yourself and have a bad workout. Pick it back up the next day!
